IND vs NZ, ODI World Cup 2023: India's middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer turned out to be the latest winner of the 'fielder of the match' medal announced by fielding coach T Dilip in an emphatic style on Sunday.
The Men in Blue registered a four-wicket win over New Zealand at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala to remain unbeaten in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023.
The hosts had a horrible outing on the field despite an early brilliance in catching by Shreyas after India opted to bowl first.
Apart from multiple drop catches, there were a few instances of good fielding as well including catches from Virat Kohli and Iyer's fielding in the boundary lines.
Talking about Shreyas, the gun fielder was clinical enough to hold onto a stunning catch at the square leg early in the match to remove the in-form batter, Devon Conway.
Like other players have been seen so far in the tournament, Shreyas was also excited after taking the catch to claim the special 'fielder of the match' medal, a ritual set by the Indian team management in the ongoing tournament.
While Ravindra Jadeja's name was shown on the giant screen as the winner of the respective reward after the last match, Iyer received it in an even more emphatic fashion.

This time the sky cam revealed the winner and brought down the medal which was presented to Iyer by Jadeja as all the players were thrilled in celebration with the special gesture.
Iyer became the fifth player to receive the medal after Virat Kohli, Shardul Thakur, KL Rahul, and Ravindra Jadeja.

Talking about the match, India chased down the 274-run target with four wickets in hand and two overs to spare on the back of batting brilliance from star batter Kohli.
Kohli played a remarkable knock of 95 runs to take his team very close to the win before getting dismissed in the 48th over by Matt Henry, missing out on the second successive century by just five runs.
Earlier, the Men in Blue opted to bowl first and were struggling for wickets after dismissing Devon Conway and Will Young cheaply.
