Rohit Sharma-led Indian team is the only side to remain unbeaten in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 after they defeated New Zealand to claim the fifth successive win on Sunday.

A memorable win at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala promised the Men in Blue a place at the top of the points table with 10 points in five matches in the tournament so far.

They will be up against the defending champions England in their next fixture which is one week away as India gear up to maintain their winning streak there as well.

With enough beak, before they return to action, the Indian team has decided to avoid travel after the match, which has been the usual routine in the ongoing tournament, and stay back in Dharamsala for two more days as per a report.

"The team will not travel today and will stay back in Dharamsala for two days. They will be resting before preparations for the next game in Lucknow begin," a BCCI official was quoted as saying.

India have been the most dominating side in the tournament, having defeated strong teams like Australia, Pakistan and New Zealand and emerged victiros against the undergos Afghanistan and Bangladesh as well.

With cinical performances in all three departments, Rohit-led side has almost outclassed every opponent to keep their consistency very much high in the task.

The senior players have taken the job in their hands pretty much seriously as Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are leading the chart with consistent scoring with the bat while Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav too have been brilliant in the bowling department.

Kohli is the leading run-getter in the tournament so far with 354 runs in five innings at an impressive average of 118 whereas Rohit stands second with 311 runs in five matches.

Bumrah has been leading the bowling department and has taken 11 wickets to remain second in the overall list, just behind New Zealand's Mitchell Santner.

The depth of the squad also came into display against the Blackcaps on Sunday when Mohammed Shami put up a remarkable pwerformance with the ball, picking up a five-wicket haul in his very first match in the tournament.

New Zealand ae always considered as the tough opponents for the Men in Blue and even lost the crucial semifinal against them in 2019 in England but ended up on the winning side this time around.

The victory was more special considering the fact that the Indian team was missing the service of premium all-rounder Hardik Pandya due to an injury while Suryakumar Yadav and Shami were brought in to make up for it.
