IND vs PAK, Asia Cup 2025: The International Cricket Council (ICC) is unlikely to grant Pakistan's request to replace match referee Andy Pycroft from the panel of match referees for the Asia Cup following the controversy surrounding the handshake incident after India's dominating victory against Pakistan.
According to Cricbuzz, the ICC hasn't officially responded to the Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) request to replace match referee Andy Pycroft from the Asia Cup.
PCB is upset over the Indian players' decision not to exchange handshakes with their Pakistan players after Sunday's Asia Cup match, leading the PCB chairman, Mohsin Naqvi, to file a formal complaint with the ICC against match referee Pycroft.
"The PCB has lodged a complaint with the ICC regarding violations by the Match Referee of the ICC Code of Conduct and the MCC Laws pertaining to the Spirit of Cricket. The PCB has demanded an immediate removal of the Match Referee from the Asia Cup," Naqvi said on X.
The latest developments in the Asia Cup have indicated that the Men in Green are believed to have threatened not to play the upcoming match against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on September 17.
The Indian team players were not seen shaking hands with their Pakistan players after the match, as teams usually do after the conclusion of a game.
India skipper Suryakumar Yadav dedicated the Indian team's compelling seven-wicket triumph over Pakistan in the Asia Cup to the country's armed forces, stating that his team stands with the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack.
"I think it's a perfect occasion and taking the time out, we stand by with the victims of the families of the Pahalgam terror attack and we express our solidarity," Suryakumar told the broadcaster after the match here.
"Also, the most important thing for me, we want to dedicate today's win to all our armed forces who showed a lot of bravery and hope they continue to inspire us all and we give them more reasons on the ground, whenever we get an opportunity to make them smile," he added.
