India Win Asia Cup 2025 Final: In a surreal moment that defied tradition, the Indian team celebrated Asia Cup victory with a ceremony stripped of its customary trappings, and notably without the traditional trophy on bais.

Suryakumar Yadav-led India emerged victorious, overcoming Pakistan by a margin of five wickets in the Asia Cup final match on Sunday.

In a unique celebration, Indian players eschewed the tradition of wearing their medals around their necks, while captain Suryakumar Yadav refrained from lifting the trophy.

The trophy was not awarded to champions India at the presentation after they refused to accept the silverware from Pakistan's Minister and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President, Mohsin Naqvi.

There was drama aplenty following India's exhilarating triumph in the Asia Cup final over arch-rivals here on Sunday, which ended with the winners celebrating their success without the trophy.

The presentation ceremony finally began after a long delay, but only individual performers were treated. Despite India's denial to accept the trophy from the ACC President, Naqvi firmly stood on the stage, and ultimately, the silverware was not awarded to the winning team, probably the first time on a cricket field.

The Indian team had sent the message to ACC that it wouldn't take the trophy from the governing body's chairman.

As India's determination not to collect the trophy became apparent, the dignitaries vacated the stage.

Following the dignitaries' exit, the Indian team returned to the stage, basking in the triumph as the Men in Blue were showered with confetti, celebrated to the tune of their victory song, and posed for photographs with fans.

As Naqvi stood on one side for the presentation ceremony to start, Indian players were standing within 15 yards, refusing to move from their places and the pleasantries were being inordinately delayed.

According to PTI, the Indian team management had asked who was supposed to present the winners' trophy. Once Naqvi took to the stage, Indian fans in the stands started booing collectively with the chants of "Bharat Maata Ki Jai".
