IND vs PAK Final: Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav continued his string of low scores in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025 final against Pakistan on Sunday. Suryakumar, who came to bat at number three for India, scored just 1 run off the five deliveries he faced. Notably, he got out to Pakistan's Shaheen Afridi in the powerplay.
It is worth noting that this was yet another dismal show by Suryakumar Yadav against bitter rivals Pakistan. With this shocker of a knock, the Indian T20I captain has mustered up just 112 runs in eight innings at an underwhelming average of 16 while striking at 105.26.
If one recounts the T20I tournament finals, Suryakumar has a paltry average of 14.37 with just 115 runs in eight innings. This year, the 35-year-old has managed just 100 runs from 11 innings, at a mere average of barely over 9. As the Indian skipper, Suryakumar has managed just 330 runs in 20 innings, which further exemplifies his woes.
Before taking over as full-time captain in July of last year, Surya boasted an impressive batting average of 43.33, but it has now decreased to 37.08.
India Need 148 To Win Asia Cup
Earlier, India bowled out Pakistan for a modest 146 in the Asia Cup final here on Sunday.
Kuldeep Yadav was the star of the show with excellent figures of 4/30 in four overs, while Varun Chakaravarthy (2/30), Axar Patel (2/26) and Jasprit Bumrah (2/25) were also among the wickets after India opted to bowl first.
Sent in, Pakistan were well-served by the opening duo of Sahibzada Farhan (57 off 38 balls) and Fakhar Zaman (46 off 35 balls), who stitched together 84 runs in under 10 overs to lay the foundation for a big total.
However, they lost 9 wickets under 33 runs in an epic collapse.
