Pakistan have been under the scanner for their massive seven-wicket defeat against arch-rivals India in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023. The lacklustre performance of Babar Azam-led side at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad extended India's lead to 8-0 against Men in Green in the 50-over showpiece event and continued their unbeaten run.

Legendary Pakistan pacer Wasim Akram slammed his team, questioning the fitness of Pakistani players, and claimed that there is no 'fitness test' in the side.

"I am concerned about the fitness of these players. Now there is no fitness test. When Misbah was the coach and selector, he used to get the Yo-Yo Test and other tests done. A professional cricketer should undergo a fitness test at least once in a month. If you won't do this, you will face this (defeat vs India)," Akram said on a Pakistan TV show.

"PCB has seen three chairmen in the last three years. This created a scare among the team members and management about whether they would be part of the next series or not. From 154 for 2 and then 191 all out was really, really disappointing," the former Pakistan captain added.

Put in to bat first by Indian captain Rohit Sharma, Pakistan suffered a batting collapse in the middle overs after a steady start. The visiting team lost their last eight wickets in a span of 13 overs and added just 36 runs to the scoreboard. Pakistan were bundled out for 191/10 in 42.5 overs as Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Hardik Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja picked two wickets each.

Chasing 192, Rohit Sharma slammed a 63-ball 86 studded with six sixes and as many fours while Shreyas Iyer remained unbeaten on 53* runs. India won the match by seven wickets with 117 balls to spare to register their third consecutive win in the tournament.

India will next take on Bangladesh in Pune on Thursday, October 19 while Pakistan will face Australia in Bengaluru on Friday, October 20.
