India vs South Africa 1st Test: South Africa extended their advantage in the first Test against India at the SuperSport Park in Centurion before getting bowled out for 408 runs.

They have a massive lead of 163 runs in the match and will look to make the most of the chances with the ball in hand for the second time.

They lost nine wickets but had to end their innings with no signs of skipper Temba Bavuma coming out to bat on the third day of the match.

Dean Elgar and Marco Jansen began the proceedings for the hosts and dominated the first session.

Elgar missed out on his double century as he was dismissed for 185 runs by Shardul Thakur whereas Jansen continued the attack and contributed with crucial runs.

Jansen looked in no discomfort while adding runs with the tail-enders and helped his team extend the lead to make it a heavy struggle for the Indian bowlers.

After Elgar's dismissal, Jansen added 31 runs with Gerald Coetzee for the seventh wicket as the latter looked to attack before getting dismissed for 19 runs by Ravichandran Ashwin.

Kagiso Rabada was quick to depart after getting a peach of a delivery from Bumrah.

Jansen wasn't finished there and added 16 more runs with Nandre Burger for the ninth wicket before the latter's dismissal off Bumrah for 0.

Bumrah was the pick of the bowlers for the visitors as he picked up four wickets for 69 runs and was instrumental in helping the team wrap up South Africa's first innings.

He was well supported by Mohammed Siraj who picked up two wickets for 91 runs with Shardul Thakur, debutant Prasidh Krishna and Ashwin getting a wicket each as well.

After resuming the batting on the third day from the overnight score of 256/5, the hosts added 152 runs before losing the remaining four wickets, out of which 136 runs came in just the first session.

India kicked off the day with disappointing outing with the ball as they leaked runs at rapid pace, allowing the hosts to extend their dominance.
