India vs South Africa 1st Test: India will be up against South Africa in the first Test, which is scheduled to be played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata from November 14 to 18. Both teams will be playing a two-match series, which will mark India's third assignment in the ongoing World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle.

India will be heading into the match on the back of a dominating 2-0 series whitewash win at home against the West Indies. This will be India's third Test series under the captaincy of Shubman Gill. The young batter has been in remarkable form over the past few months, having started his captaincy career with 754 runs to his name in the five-match away series against England at an average of 75.40.

On the back of four centuries, Gill smashed multiple batting records in England to help India draw the series 2-2 after a famous win in the final Test at the Oval. He then scored 196 runs in the two-match series against the West Indies at home, smashing a century.
