IND vs SA 2nd Test: South Africa's star all-rounder Senuran Muthusamy has revealed that he had gone into the wilderness post his debut match in India in 2019 and was convinced that he wouldn't get to play in this format ever again, but made a brilliant comeback against the same opponent, where he played a match-defining role against India. For him, life has come a full circle.
He had a forgetful outing in his debut series against India in 2019, where he took just two wickets after playing in as many matches, and he thought that his career was well and over and that he might not play in India again.
And now in 2025, he has thrived in subcontinent conditions. Post a brilliant run in Pakistan, where he took 11 wickets in the series opener and then scored an unbeaten knock of 89 runs in the second innings, he is now cherishing the best day of his career by scoring a brilliant knock og 109 runs against the hosts.

“My journey has been unique. Got a taste of international cricket in 2019 in India, debuted here, went back into the wilderness a little bit. Like you say, cricket is such a journey that you just try to take it one day at a time," Muthusamy told reporters in the post-match press conference.
“But there were times, especially after 2019, when I was not sure if I would ever play Tests again, and not in India after we lost that series. So just grateful for the support that I have got back home, for the people that are close with me, the coaches, the support staff here, the players, my family, my friends," he said.
He also talked about how working with sports scientist Cheryl Calder helped him improve his performance.
“Yeah, it is fantastic, especially having come through to India in 2019, and we lost the series pretty badly. So, yeah, I have gone back to domestic cricket and I have managed to work my way back into the national set-up, and I am just grateful for the opportunity to be in India and to put in a performance like that in the first innings is an awesome experience," he concluded.
