IND vs SA 2nd Test: Marco Jansen's dreams of scoring his first Test hundred were dashed as the star Protea all-rounder got out on 93 on the second day of the ongoing Test. Post scoring a brilliant innings, which had piled pressure on the host, as Jansen was seen walking back to the pavilion disappointingly, and was left frustrated.
Kuldeep Yadav took his wicket by bowling a peachy delivery. The ball turned away brilliantly as Jansen mistimed the shot, and the ball hit his stumps, and that's how his knock ended, and he fell short of a well-deserved century.
Most sixes in a Test innings for South Africa
7 - AB de Villiers vs Australia, Cape Town, 2009
7 - Quinton de Kock vs West Indies, Gros Islet, 2021
7 - Marco Jansen vs India, Guwahati, 2025
His seven sixes are also the joint most in a Test innings against India, as he leveled Shahid Afridi's 103 off 80 balls in 2006. He now has the record of smashing the most sixes as a no.9 batter or lower in a Test innings, besides Tim Southee's nine in his debut Test match against England.
The Indian bowlers were also seen struggling as Jasprit Bumrah had bowled 32 overs, and it was only twice that he had bowled more in a Test innings, and that too against England.

On the other hand, Senuran Muthusamy helped the team bounce back by scoring a brilliant knock of 109 runs and helped the team post a mammoth target of 489 runs. They started the day at 245/6, where Muthusamy built a partnership of 88 runs along with Kyle Verryne and then stitched a partnership of 97 runs with Jansen, whose aggressive batting had entertained the fans in the morning.
Jansen was on the verge of scoring his first Test but then his rhythm slowed. Since Keshav Maharaj was the new batter, Jansen became nervous, and that's how he lost his wicket.
Kuldeep Yadav registered figures of 4/15, whereas Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Ravindra Jadeja took two wickets apiece. Washington Sundar and Nitish Kumar Reddy failed to take any wickets, as Nitish bowled in just six overs of 115.1, which the host had bowled.
The visitors 489 is the highest target in the first by any team in India. Apart from Simon Harmer, all the other batters scored in double digits, and that showed their collective team effort, but it was Jansen's disappointing walk back after missing his first Test ton that was the highlight of the day.
