In the third and final Twenty20 International in Johannesburg, India secured an emphatic 106-run victory against South Africa, thereby leveling the series. Opting to bat first, India posted a formidable total of 201 for seven in their 20 overs at The Wanderers. Captain Suryakumar Yadav played a pivotal role, smashing a brilliant century from 56 balls. His innings included seven fours and eight sixes, marking his fourth century in international T20 matches.
Suryakumar Yadav's partnership with opener Yashasvi Jaiswal was crucial, as they put on 112 for the third wicket. Jaiswal contributed 60 runs from 41 balls. Despite the early dismissals of Shubman Gill and Tilak Varma, India's total was propelled by Yadav and Jaiswal, with Rinku Singh (14) being the only other batsman to reach double figures.
In response, South Africa struggled in their chase, with India's seamers causing difficulties for the home side's batters. Wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav further dented South Africa's efforts, claiming a career-best figure of 5-17 in 2.5 overs. The hosts were eventually dismissed for a paltry 95.
David Miller provided some resistance with 35 runs from 25 balls, but his efforts were in vain as India secured a convincing win. However, there was a concern for India when Suryakumar Yadav rolled his ankle while attempting fielding and had to leave the field.
The two teams will now shift their focus to the upcoming three-match One-Day International series, with the first match scheduled at the same venue on Sunday, followed by matches in Gqeberha on Tuesday and Paarl next Thursday.
Brief Scores:
India: 201 for 7 in 20 overs (Suryakumar Yadav 100, Yashasvi Jaiswal 60; Keshav Maharaj 2/26, Lizaad Williams 2/46).
South Africa: 95 all out in 13.5 overs (David Miller 35; Kuldeep Yadav 5/17, Ravindra Jadeja 2/25).
