In the 8th over of the West Indies' first innings, Sudharsan completed the catch at forward short leg. Campbell lofted Jadeja's tossed-up delivery outside off stump with a well-executed slog sweep, but to his bad luck, Sudharsan's intuitions proved to be his undoing.
As the ball was hurtled towards him, Sudharsan tried to protect himself, and in a fortunate turn of events, the ball somehow stuck to his hands, allowing him to complete a catch that would be remembered for its uniqueness.

The audacious catch even stunned India's head coach Gautam Gambhir, who gave a rare smile while bowling coach Morne Morkel's surprise was also palpable.
However, the jubilation was short-lived, as Sudharsan soon exited the field due to a painful blow to his fingers, seeking medical attention. With Sudharsan nursing his injury, Devdutt Padikkal was called upon to replace him as a substitute fielder.
Earlier, Shubman Gill cruised to his 10th hundred as India decided to declare at a sizeable first innings score of 518 for five one hour into the post-lunch session on the second day of the second Test.
