India vs West Indies 2nd Test: India's Day 2 campaign got off to a dismal start as the young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal fell tantalizingly short of a well-deserved double century due to a calamitous mix-up with captain Shubman Gill, ending his innings at 175 runs on Saturday.
The incident occurred in the first hour of the play at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, leaving Jaiswal 25 runs shy of the milestone.
Jaiswal's marathon innings came to an heartbreaking end after adding just two runs to his overnight score of 173, falling prey to run-out courtesy Tagenarine Chanderpaul.

- I watching in now so I can tell you with 100% conviction that it was yashasvi Jaiswal fault. He has this bad habits of running after hitting direct into… pic.twitter.com/g5SYOCPBqf
After the mix-up sparked a massive controversy, former India captain turned commentator Anil Kumble gave his unfiltered verdict on the incident.
'Not something we expected or even thought Jaiswal would make that mistake. He perhaps played the shot really too well and may be thought it was beating the fielder to his right or to his left and hence went with the flow. It went straight to the mid-off fielder, and there was no chance that he would make it," Kumble said during the lunch break.
"The only doubt was when the wicketkeeper took the bails off, was the ball in his hand, did it pop out. But the umpire did not have any doubt and hence did not refer it," Kumble added.
