New Delhi | Jagran Sports Desk: Team India opening batsman Rohit Sharma on Wednesday became the third player to score 400 sixes in international cricket. He achieved the feat by scoring a six off Sheldon Cottrell while playing against West Indies in the third T20I held at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. He hit a lofted shot that went all the way towards mid-wicket despite not getting the middle of the bat. Rohit reached the landmark in his 360th innings (354th match). Among Indian players, he has become the first to hit four hundred sixes in international cricket.

In Test matches, Rohit has slammed 52 sixes in 32 matches while he has 232 sixes in 218 ODIs and 120 sixes in 104 T20Is. The other two players who top the list of most sixes include Pakistan former batsman Shahid Afridi (476 sixes) and Chris Gayle (534 sixes). Former New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum and India captain MS Dhoni are placed fourth and fifth with 398 and 359 sixes.
In the match, West Indies won the toss and chose to bowl first. Rohit slammed his 19th fifty scoring 71 runs off just 34 balls that included five sixes and six fours. He was caught out to Hayden Walsh at mid-wicket off Kesrick Williams in the 12th over. India posted 240/3 in 20 overs as KL Rahul slammed 91 runs while Kohli scored 70 runs off just 29 deliveries.
In reply, West Indies could only manage 173 in 20 overs. Skipper Kieron Pollard was the top-scorer with 39-ball 68 runs while Shimron Hetmyer added 41 runs. Deepak Chahar, Mohammad Shami, Kuldeep Yadav and Bhuvneshwar Kumar scalped two wickets each. Team India won the match by 67 runs and registered a 2-1 series win over West Indies.
