Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya was very unfortunate to get run out at the non-striker's end in the first ODI against West Indies at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados on Thursday.
However, his disappointing dismissal has resulted in a massive debate on social media with few claiming that the batter should have been given not out according to the new rules.

The instance took place in the 14th over when Ishan Kishan slammed the ball straight towards the bowler Yannic Cariah who was not able to complete the catch.
The ball bounced out of his hands and crashed directly into the stumps with Pandya out of his crease on the non-striker's end and followingly was given out by the third umpire.

The replays clearly showed that Pandya's bat was in the air when the bails went off the stumps but it was pointed out that the bat was grounded and it bounced when he tried to return to the crease. No such observation was made by the third umpire who gave the decision in favour of the hosts.
Pandya was the third Indian wicket to fall while chasing an ordinary-looking target of 115 leaving the visitors with a few hiccups as they had to work a bit to achieve the target.
Rohit Sharma-led side registered a five-wicket victory in the end, continuing their dominance on the tour as they already have clinched the two-match Test series 1-0.
Left-arm spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja made it tough for the Windies as the dou help bowling them out for just 114 runs in 23 overs.
India were always favorites for the modest target thanks to Ishan Kishan's belligerent 52, although the loss of three wickets near the end of the chase took some of the gloss off the win.
In what was clearly a bit of an audition for younger batting aspirants ahead of the World Cup, champion batsman Virat Kohli did not feature while captain Rohit Sharma only appeared at the fall of the fifth wicket and finished the game for his team in the end.
