It was a dream come true for fanboys Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill as they had the incredible opportunity to meet and have a chat with the legendary cricketer, Brian Lara, at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba. The meeting took place after India's victory in the 3rd ODI against the West Indies on August 1, which also resulted in India clinching the series.

During their interaction with the Prince of Trinidad, Ishan and Shubman couldn't help but express their admiration for the cricketing icon. They took the chance to reiterate their deep respect and fondness for the cricketing legend, who has left an indelible mark on the game.

"I think for me, the most important things are the stories I've heard. I have heard that you always used to bat till lunch and if you are there on the pitch, you go to practice and then again come to bat. So that is something to learn from you," Ishan told Lara.

"And I was very excited to... you know, once you texted me on Instagram and I was actually in shock, like how come you texted me. Such a legend of this game texted me and I was very happy about it," he added.

"Performing here where your name is there on the board was really special for me. And, you know, I love to watch highlights and I've seen your innings, how you used to play and hit those shots. So I'm actually happy to perform here," he added.

Shubman Gill, who top-scored with 85, revealed how Brian Lara inspired him to dominate bowlers from the start.

"All my memories of him are smashing the bowlers and taking on the bowlers. Whenever I used to see him, especially in red ball, he used to be one of those people, you know, who used to go in and straight from ball one, he would take on the bowlers and would take on the challenge. And that really inspired me as a kid to be able to dominate the game, in all formats," he added.

The legendary West Indies batter also shared his affection for young Indian batters.

"Well, India is like a second home to me. Looking at young promising cricketers in India, it is something that I've grown up doing. And just to see the talent here with this Indian team and so many different teams that they have at the moment, they can pick a second XI and even a third XI. Just to see these guys on this international stage here at the academy, I feel very, very proud," he said.
