IND vs ZIM T20 World Cup 2026 Super 8s: India's star batter Rinku Singh has flown back home due to a family emergency. As per India Today, Khanchand Singh, who is Rinku's father, has been rushed to a local hospital in Greater Noida due to a serious health condition.

He had gone to Chennai with the Indian team on Monday, just a day after their Super 8s match against South Africa. But as per India Today, he had to leave Chennai on Tuesday to visit his father, who had been put on a life support. 

There are high chances that he will give the upcoming Super 8s clash against Zimbabwe, which will be held on Thursday a miss. He also didn't attend the training session on Tuesday due to this reason.

INDIA FACE ZIMBABWE IN AHMEDABAD

Rinku's absence from the national team has come at an important juncture. Post losing the first Super 8s match to South Africa, the host are on the verge of making an early exit from the ongoing mega event. The Suryakumar Yadab-led side will lock horns with Zimbabwe , a team which had beaten Australia and Sri Lanka during their group stage and qualified for the next round. 

They did lose to West Indies during their first Super 8s match and will try to bounce back against India. 

If Rinku isn't available for this clash, then the team management might bring back Axar Patel to the playing XI as his replacement. He didn't play in the match against South Africa and this decision by the team management was brutally slammed both by the experts and the fans alike.

The Aiden Markram-led side ended India's 12-match winning streak in the ongoing mega event after defeating them by 76 runs in Ahmedabad. This loss didn't just break India's winning streak but also handed a huge blow to their NRR and has pushed the reigning champions on the verge of missing the semifinal spot. The host now have to win both their matches by huge margins in order to qualify for the semifinals.
