IND-A vs SA-A: Rishabh Pant will be returning to competitive cricket after a long injury layoff. The star wicketkeeper batter, who has stayed out of action post-sustaining a foot fracture against England, revealed that he has fully recovered from this injury. Pant got injured in the 4th Test match against England.
As he tried to play a reverse sweep in Chris Woakes' over, he let the ball touch his right foot. Known for his resilient nature, he came in to bat post his injury and showed how determined he was for this sport.
After that Test match, Pant stayed out of action until now. He was seen in action in the first unofficial Test match against South Africa A.
Talking of the match, Pant talked about the game, his recovery, and that it was a smooth process.
“The first part of the process was healing. For the first six weeks, you have to let the fracture heal properly and then report to the CoE. Thankfully, the healing went well,” was heard as saying in the BCCI video.
“I started my rehab gradually. In the early days, there was a lot of physiotherapy and careful monitoring. Once I regained some mobility, I began focusing on building strength, which marked the start of the second phase. Right now, I’m happy to say that I’m fully recovered, and I owe a big thanks to the CoE staff for helping me through it,” he said.
He called the injury the most frustrating process of his career. He also said that staying mentally strong was equally challenging.
“Being positive is really a mindset thing. During an injury, it’s easy to lose motivation. Your energy levels drop, and frustration builds up. But if you can find small things that make you feel good, it’s important to hold onto them, especially when you’re going through that period,” he said.
In his comeback match, Pant had played 20 balls in the first innings and had scored 17 runs, but was later dismissed by pacer Okuhle Cele. His innings might have been short, but it showed that he is fully fit.
