India batter and Bengal's veteran cricketer Manoj Tiwary announced his retirement from all forms of cricket on Thursday through a social media post.
Tiwary last played for India in 2015 and had 12 ODI appearances to his name and also played three T20I matches in his career between 2008 and 2015. He scored a hundred in the 50-over format of the game at the highest level.

"Goodbye to the game of cricket. This game has given me everything, I mean every single thing which I had never dreamt of, starting from the times when my life was challenged by different forms of difficulties. I will always be grateful to this game and to the GOD, who has always been by my side throughout," Tiwary said in an Instagram post.

Manoj Tiwary had a legendary career in domestic career and was seen playing recently in February earlier this year. He led the Bengal team and managed to take them into the final as well.
He also featured in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for numerous seasons and played for teams such as Delhi Daredevils, Kolkata Knight Riders, Kings XI Punjab, and Rising Pune Supergiants.
Despite his impressive performances in domestic cricket, Tiwary's international career was marked by sporadic appearances and periods of being overlooked.
Tiwary made his international debut against Australia in the 2007-08 Commonwealth Bank series. He was then picked for the West Indies tour of 2011 as a replacement for veteran all-rounder Yuvraj Singh.
His T20 International career has been similarly inconsistent, with him often being selected but not playing any matches.
The 37-year-old went on to thank his wife and his former teammates for their support throughout his career and made a special tribute to his coach Manabendra Ghosh.
"Manabendra Ghosh, my father figure like coach has been the pillar in the cricketing journey. If he had not been there then I would have not reached anywhere in the cricketing circle. Thank you Sir and wish you a speedy recovery, as your health is not keeping well. Thank you to my Dad and Mom, they both never put pressure on me to focus on my studies rather they encouraged me to continue in cricket. Big thank you to my wife, @roy_susmita7 who has always been on my side from the time she came into my life," he added.

Apart from cricket, Tiwary also tried his hands in politics as he joined the All India Trinamool Congress political party in 2021 and was elected to the West Bengal Legislative Assembly later that year. He currently is the sports minister of Bengal.
