IND vs USA, 2024 T20 World Cup: Ex-India cricketer Akash Chopra has revealed that the Indian team has given up on all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja due to his inconsistent performances in the mega-event. Jadeja, who is known for his all-round skills, hasn’t performed up to the mark so far and didn’t bowl a single over in their match against the USA on Wednesday. Chopra highlighted that Rohit not using Jadeja as a bowler against a formidable USA batting lineup shows their lack of confidence in him.
The Rohit Sharma-led side qualified for the Super 8 stage after beating USA by seven wickets at the Nassau County International cricket stadium on Wednesday. With the help of brilliant bowling performances of Arshdeep Singh (4/19) and Hardik Pandya (2/14), India could reduce the USA to a below-par target of 110 runs. During the first innings, Shivam Dube also bowled, where he conceded 11 runs, but Jadeja didn’t bowl a single over, who otherwise has performed consistently in the last few months.
During a recent interaction on his YouTube channel, Chopra talked about how the Rohit Sharma-led side might not be expecting much from Jadeja’s all-round skills.

"The biggest question is what is being done with Ravindra Jadeja. The captain didn't get Jaddu to bowl even a single over. Even Shivam Dube was made to bowl, although he proved expensive in that over and it seems like he is not fully ready to bowl at this level," Chopra was quoted as saying on his YouTube channel.
"However, not giving a single over to Jaddu and later not getting him to bat up the order, the confidence in Jaddu was lost suddenly. The guy needed to score a few runs and take a few wickets in any case because this tournament hasn't gone well for him, he has a career strike rate of 125 with the bat, and you are slightly surprised if the captain doesn't get you to bowl also," he added.
Even when the Indian team was chasing the target, the team management didn’t promote Jadeja up the order and it was Suryakumar Yadav and Shiva Dube who led the team across the line. Jadeja has bowled just three overs till now and that questions the team management’s plan to deal with the all-rounder in the remainder of the tournament.
