Three matches are supposed to be held at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium, Turf Ground in Lauderhill, Florida, from June 14-16. Of the three, two matches will affect USA and Pakistan’s chances of qualifying for the Super 8. The Monank Patel-led side will lock horns with Ireland on Friday and will qualify for Super 8 if they win this match. Even if the match is abandoned, the USA will qualify for the Super 8 stage as they would have five points under their kitty after playing in four matches.

On the other hand, if the match between Pakistan and Ireland is washed out, then their chances of qualifying for the next stage would be all but over as they are lying in the third position in the points table after winning just one match and with two points in their kitty. Pakistan would hope that Ireland would beat the USA in their last group stage match to strengthen their chances of reaching the next round.

If Ireland does beat the USA, then the Babar Azam-led side will also have to beat the Irishmen on Sunday, June 16. They would hope that their last group stage match isn’t abandoned as they would be knocked out of the tournament. The Babar Azam-led side suffered a humiliating defeat to co-hosts USA in the Super over.

In their match against arch-nemesis India, they couldn’t chase the below-par target of 120 runs and lost the match by six runs. Thus, bad weather will ruin the hype around the mega-event and will become a huge obstacle in ICC’s bid to promote the sport in the USA.
