Former Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik, who currently serves as the batting coach and mentor for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), has made a personal appeal to in-form Indian batter Tilak Varma.

Tilak has been in phenomenal form in T20Is, scoring two centuries and one half-century in his last six appearances for India. The 22-year-old Hyderabadi left-hander has achieved a notable milestone, becoming India's highest-ranked player in the ICC T20I batter's rankings.

His impressive performances have also earned him a spot with the five-time champions Mumbai Indians, who retained him ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction.

As Tilak continues to scale new heights, Dinesh Karthik has expressed his well-wishes for the young batter's future success. In a lighthearted request, Karthik jokingly asked Tilak to go easy on his team, Bengaluru, during the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League.

“Brilliant innings (in 2nd T20I). Great understanding of what the situation required. Hats off to him. Really like him as a player. I just wish he grows from strength to strength. Be nice against RCB, Tilak. He always does well against us," Karthik said while speaking on Cricbuzz’s HeyCB with DK show.

Since his IPL debut with Mumbai Indians in 2022, Tilak has had a notable record against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

In their three encounters, he has amassed an impressive 100 runs. One of his standout performances came in an IPL 2023 match at Bengaluru's M Chinnaswamy Stadium, where he scored a blistering 84 runs off just 46 deliveries, smashing nine fours and four sixes after coming in at number five.
