IND vs ENG 3rd Test: The Men in Blue were on the verge of completing a perfect session on the third day of the Lord's Test match but it was disrupted by a disastrous run-out which sent the in-form batter Rishabh Pant back to the pavilion during the last over. This incident occurred due to an avoidable miscommunication between Pant and KL Rahul and they thus took Ben Stokes' fielding skills for granted.

During the 66th over, Rahul and Pant had stitched a partnership of 141 runs, where they had scored 98 and 74 runs. They tried to remain risk-free in the whole session but then Pant smashed Stokes towards short cover, to get Rahul back on strike and help him score his well-deserved hundred in Shoaib Bashir's over.

Pant initially hesitated but Rahul had already started running towards his end. Stokes showed his brilliant fielding prowess as he turned and stopped the ball quickly and also did the right thing to throw the ball directly towards the non-striker's end. Pant fell short of his crease and Ben Stokes was ecstatic.

The Shubman Gill-led side had scored 103 runs during the session and at a run-rate of 4.71 and that's quite decent for this surface. They were also able to reduce the deficit by 139 runs and implemented plans like including wicketkeeper Jamie Smith against Pant and the bowlers had bowled him short ball deliveries and had also set a full leg-side field. Pant was successfully able to face them even though he was suffering from an injury on his left index finger and Rahul also tried to protect him from, facing such overs.

Batting unbeaten had put the Men in Blue in the driver's position. All eyes were then on KL Rahul, to hold the innings from one end along with the help of the lower middle order.

The Shubman Gill-led side have three all-rounders in their playing XI in the form of Nitish Kumar Reddy, Ravindra Jadeja, and Washington Sundar. Although Reddy has been struggling with the bat Jadeja and Sundar performed brilliantly at Edgbaston and will try to repeat their heroics.

The visitors will try to get a lead of more than 100 runs and take advantage of a pitch, which seems to deteriorate as the match progresses.
