IND vs ENG 3rd Test: India's star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was seen playfully teasing Joe Root about taking a risk and completing his second run to complete his century in the third Test match. At the fourth ball of the last over on the first day, Root had smashed the back of a lengthy delivery in Akash Deep's over toward the third man and for a while thought about taking his second run.

But after seeing Jadeja, who is known for his brilliant fielding efforts, Root decided not to take that run. Jadeja was just trying to make things light and thus tried to provoke Root for taking that second run and had also put the ball on the ground for a while, only to tease him further.

Root, who is on the verge of scoring his 37th Test hundred, remained unbeaten on 99 off 191 balls, in which he had smashed nine fours and helped the hosts end the day at 251/4 in 83 overs.

Joe Root guides England on Day 1

While batting first, the Ben Stokes-led side had a flying start as openers Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley stitched a gritty partnership of 43 runs for the first wicket. But Nitish Kumar Reddy turned the tide of the match in India's favor during the 14th over as he dismissed both the openers and thus dismantled England's batting lineup.

Joe Root then helped the host bounce back. He built a stable partnership of 109 runs with Ollie Pope for the third wicket, Ravindra Jadeja took Pope's wicket as he got out after scoring 44 runs and then Bumrah dismissed Harry Brook, and thus Root was then assisted well by Ben Stokes.

Stokes, who has been struggling to score runs for the last few months, scored an unbeaten knock of 39 runs off 102 balls, in which he had smashed three fours and along with Root helped the hosts bounce back.

Reddy was the pick among the Indian bowlers as he registered figures of 14-0-46-2. Bumrah and Jadeja took one wicket apiece whereas Akash Deep, Mohammed Siraj, and Washington Sundar couldn't take a single wicket.

On the second day, the Ben Stokes-led side will try to strengthen their partnership whereas the hosts will try to get the much-needed breakthrough as soon as possible.
