IND vs ENG 1st Test: England's star opener Ben Duckett has reckoned that the only way to face the world's best bowler Jasprit Bumrah is not to let him settle and instead pile pressure on him. Duckett was one of the three batters who were dismissed by Jasprit Bumrah on the second day of the series opener.

Although, Duckett did score a gritty knock of 62 runs off 94 balls. He did get some reprieve as he was dropped twice in Bumrah's over but Bumrah eventually dismissed him as the ball had edged on his bat.

But due to his brilliant innings and Ollie Pope's unbeaten century, the hosts were 209/3 at stumps and they were trailing by 262 runs.

“He is the best bowler in the world. He’s extremely hard to face. He’s good in any conditions; he’s good in India on the flattest pitches ever and when he’s coming in down the hill at Headingley with the lights on it’s swinging both ways. I feel like we minimised the damage early on" Duckett told reporters during the post-match presentation.

“It could have been a lot worse today… He is just a world-class bowler, and you can’t let someone like him bowl; he’s too good for that. You’ve got to still try and put him under pressure, and try to put the bad balls away," he further said.

He also heaped praise on the Pope and admitted that he got goosebumps when the Pope celebrated his century. His comments also dismissed all the criticism that Pope had gotten while batting at the No.3 position as he had been slammed a lot ever since Jacob Bethell began playing international cricket.

“I had goosebumps for him. You go one down and he comes in and takes all the pressure on you and scores quick. He is such a legend and such a big part of this team. We know there is noise outside the dressing room so to go and score 171 then 100 is something else. If he does get in, he gets 100s, and someone like him at 3 against India, it is a no-brainer. Popey scored 100s, and he did it away as well when we won- he is a matchwinner. It is a great start to the series for him," he concluded.
