IND vs PAK ICC Champions Trophy 2025: Pakistan's star batter Babar Azam has become the third batter to have completed 1000 runs in ICC ODI tournaments in the ongoing high-octane clash against arch-rivals India on Sunday. He achieved this feat after playing in 24 innings by playing a brilliant cover drive and smashed a four in Harshit Rana's over. Saeed Anwar and Javed Miandad are the other two batters to have scored 1000 or more runs in ICC ODI tournaments.
Babar scored a gritty knock of 64 runs off 90 balls during their tournament opener against New Zealand and was thus slammed for his poor strike rate as his efforts went in vain and they lost the matchg by 60 runs while chasing a mammoth target of 321 runs. The ex-captain has been seen struggling to score runs lately as he last scored a hundred in August 2023 against Nepal.
He also didn't play in the Test series against England last year. But he bounced back brilliantly during the Test series against South Africa, where he scored three fifties after batting in four innings but could only score 45 runs in the four innings that he played in the Test series against West Indies.
