IND vs PAK Asia Cup 2025: Ryan Ten Doeschate, who is the assistant coach of the Indian cricket team, has reacted to Pakistan's head coach Mike Hesson's claim that Mohammad Nawaz is the world's best spinner. India will lock horns with arch-rivals Pakistan during their Asia Cup match on Sunday. Before the high-octane clash, Ryan Ten Doechate was asked about the mind game being played by the Men in Green.

Talking about Mike Hesson's comment, Doeschate admitted that spin is expected to play a huge role during the ongoing continental tournament. He revealed that they are going to back their spin trio of Axar Patel, Varun Chakravarthy, and Kuldeep Yadav. Ten Doechate said that Mike Hesson can rate his players wherever he wants.

“I think spinners are going to be very important in this competition. If anything, I don't think it has gripped as much as we anticipated, and certainly not like it did earlier in the year when we were here. But spin in general has become a very important part of T20 cricket, and both teams have a lot of spin on offer. And we certainly know how we feel about Varun Axar and Kuldeep, so everyone's entitled to their opinion, and they can rank their players wherever they wish,” Ryan Ten Doeschate told reporters during the pre-match press conference.

Hesson called Mohammad Nawaz the world's best spinner before their tournament opener against Oman. He helped Pakistan win the tri-series summit clash against Afghanistan. He took a five-for and also included a hat-trick and thus helped the team win the match by 75 runs.

He also won the Player of the match and the Player of the series award for taking 10 wickets after playing in five innings. At the same time, the Suryakumar Yadav-led side consists of spinners like Kuldeep, Axar, and Varun. Although Axar and Kuldeep did play a huge role in helping India win the 2024 T20 World Cup title, Chakravarthy made a brilliant comeback to the national side.

He is the highest wicket-getter in T20Is after making a comeback, as he has taken 32 wickets after playing in 13 matches. And that's why the Indian spinners will have an upper edge during the upcoming match. At the same time, the Men in Green would also be fielding a spin-heavy attack against India, just like they did against Oman.
