India vs Pakistan, Asia Cup 2025: Irfan Pathan has taken a dig at Shahid Afridi once again as the war of words continues on both sides of the border ahead of another India vs Pakistan clash in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025.
Pathan responded to Afridi's recent remarks, claiming that some people from the neighbouring nation are "obsessed" with his name.
The whole controversy started last month when Pathan, in an interview with Lallantop, recalled a confrontation with Afridi during a flight. "I asked Razzaq what kind of meat Pakistanis ate and whether dog meat was available. Hearing me, a surprised Razzaq questioned back, ‘Hey Irfan, why are you asking this?’ I replied that he (Afridi) has eaten dog meat; he has been barking for so long. After this, Afridi could not say anything," Pathan had said.

However, Afridi, who is known for making obnoxious statements on a consistent basis, went on to deny that Pathan made certain remarks against him and challenged him to talk to him face-to-face.

The veteran all-rounder Afridi also had reacted to the recent no-handshake controversy that took place after India's recent win over Pakistan in Dubai, and his comments have caused massive harm to his credibility as an expert.
"Main usko mard manta hoon jo samne khara hoke baat kare. Peeth peeche itni baat karni hain, lekin manu usko hi jo samne aake baat kare. Phir maza aayega na, jawab bhi de sake banda. (I believe in those who can talk face to face. Anyone can talk behind someone's back, but I only respect those who can talk in front of me. That would spice things up. I can also give the perfect reply)," Afridi said on the Pakistani TV channel Samaa TV.
In reply to that, Pathan wrote on X: "Aap log sahi kehte hain: 'Ye padosi X players aur media Irfan Pathan ke naam se obsessed hain.'"

After a dominating 7-wicket win last week, Indian players, including skipper Suryakumar Yadav, refused to shake hands with the Pakistani players as a symbolic protest against the Pahalgam Terror Attack. Suryakumar went on to dedicate the win to the victims of the attack and to the Indian Armed Forces.
