This loss against India has dented Pakistan's chances of reaching the Super 8 stage. They have now slipped to the third position in the points table.

As per the rules of the ongoing mega event, the top two teams from each group will reach the Super 8.
In order to reach the next round, the Salman Ali Agha-led side will have to beat Namibia during their last group stage match.
Pakistan will face Namibia in their last Group A match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 on Wednesday (February 18) at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo.
If Pakistan loses against Namibia, then they will finish below the United States of America in the points table and won’t be able to qualify for the Super 8s.

The USA’s qualification for Super 8s, however, won’t be guaranteed with Pakistan’s defeat because they have to wait for the result of the India-Netherlands match, which will be played on Wednesday in Ahmedabad.
If India defeat the Netherlands in that fixture, then the USA will finish 2nd in the Group A points table, but if the Netherlands stun India, then they will also reach four points, and then the team with the better net run rate (NRR) between the USA and the Netherlands will finish 2nd in the Group A points table and qualify for the Super 8s.
But if Pakistan defeats Namibia on Wednesday, then the Salman Ali Agha-led side will finish second with 6 points and qualify for the Super 8s.
