India vs South Africa 1st Test: Ravindra Jadeja had a memorable outing on the second day of the first Test between India and South Africa at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Saturday as he etched his name in the history books, achieving yet another incredible milestone in Test cricket.

Jadeja, who is the world's No. 1 Test all-rounder, became the second Indian and overall fourth cricketer in the world to score 4000 runs and take at least 300 wickets in Test cricket. He achieved the milestone of 4000 Test runs while batting for India in the first innings during the morning session. He already has 338 wickets to his credit in the five-day format of the game.

Kapil Dev was the first cricketer to take 300 wickets and score 4000 runs in Test cricket, and he was followed by Ian Botham of England and Daniel Vettori of New Zealand.

The ongoing first match against the Proteas in Kolkata is Jadeja’s 88th Test for India. He is the second fastest cricketer after Botham to take 300 wickets and score 4000 runs in Test cricket. The former England captain achieved the feat in his 72nd red-ball match for the English team.

Jadeja, who has been at the top of the headlines lately after his surprising move to the Rajasthan Royals from the Chennai Super Kings ahead of the IPL 2026, came out to bat at no.6 for India in the first innings. Jadeja went on to score 27 runs in 45 balls on the back of three fours.

Towards the end of the second day, Jadeja produced magic with the ball as well. He triggered a mini collapse in South Africa's batting order and ended up taking four wickets for 29 runs in 13 overs he bowled. Kuldeep Yadav also found a couple of scalps, whereas Axar Patel took the wicket of Kyle Verreynne to put the visitors in massive trouble.
