India vs West Indies 1st Test: KL Rahul smashed a magnificent century on the second day of the first Test between India and the West Indies at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Friday.

Rahul has been in incredible form with the bat, and this was his 11th Test hundred as he played a key role in taking India to a strong position in the first innings, having taken a lead earlier on the second day as well. This was Rahul's only second Test century at home, ending a wait of 3211 days.

Only Sunil Gavaskar (33), Virender Sehwag (22) and Murali Vijay (12) have recorded more hundreds as Test openers for India.

Most Test Hundreds (Indian openers)

Sunil Gavaskar: 33 centuries in 203 innings

Virender Sehwag: 22 centuries in 168 innings

Murali Vijay: 12 centuries in 100 innings

Gautam Gambhir: 9 centuries in 101 innings

Rohit Sharma: 9 centuries in 66 innings

Rahul is still unbeaten on 100 with Dhruv Jurel (14) at the other end. The duo has already added 30 runs for the fourth wicket. India lost only one wicket in the first session as skipper Shubman Gill was dismissed for 50 by Roston Chase.

Rahul and Gill stitched a 98-run partnership for the third wicket. This was Gill's first Test fifty at home as Indian captain, but he couldn't capitalise on it into a big one.
