While batting first, the host had declared their first innings total on 521, on the back of a ton by Virender Sehwag and a double hundred by Cheteshwar Pujara. Yuvraj Singh too made a significant contribution by scoring 75 runs. Graeme Swann took a five-wicket haul.

But the visitors had put up a brilliant fight back. Captain Alastair Cook has smashed 176 runs and again scored a gritty knock of 91 runs. Ojha took a four-wicket haul and became the pick among the bowlers.

When the host needed 88 runs to win the game, Pujara and Sehwag opened the innings and built a partnership of 57 runs, but Swann then took Sehwag's wicket. Pujara and Kohli then took the team across the line.
