IND vs PAK, Asia Cup 2025: Suryakumar Yadav-led India national cricket team is set to face traditional rivals Pakistan in a highly anticipated match of the Asia Cup 2025 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday.

India's match against Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 in Dubai has been surrounded by controversy. In a notable move, Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Punjab Kings (PBKS) didn't mention Pakistan in their social media announcement about the match.

The Kings sparked discussion with their social media post ahead of India's match against Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025, as the side, instead of mentioning Pakistan as the opponent, chose to omit the name.

The traditional rivals are set to clash in Dubai for the first time since the escalation of the border conflict in May, when India launched strikes on terror infrastructure in Pakistan after 26 tourists were killed in a dastardly attack in Pahalgam.

As per a new policy announced by the government recently, India will not engage in any bilateral sporting contest with Pakistan but will continue to face the neighbours in multilateral tournaments such as the ongoing Asia Cup cricket tournament.

Earlier, a petition was filed in the Supreme Court of India seeking to cancel the highly anticipated India vs Pakistan match in the Asia Cup 2025.

"Cricket between nations is meant to show harmony and friendship. But after the Phalagam terror attack and Operation Sindoor, when our people died and our soldiers risked everything, playing with Pakistan sent the opposite message that while our soldiers sacrificed their lives, we are celebrating sports with the same country sheltering terrorists," the plea specifically stated as quoted by The Times Of India.

"It can also hurt the sentiments of the families of the victims who lost their lives in the hand of the Pakistani terrorist. The dignity of the nation and the security of citizens come before entertainment," the petitioners added.
