Asia Cup 2025: Ahead of the Asia Cup 2025, the Indian cricket team has introduced the Bronco Test as a new fitness benchmark, replacing the previously used Yo-Yo Test.
In the video posted by the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) on Friday, the team's strength and conditioning coach, Adrian Le Roux, detailed insights into the Bronco Test, highlighting how it aids India in building strength and reducing injury risks.
Indian cricketers, including Shubman Gill, Hardik Pandya, Sanju Samson, Arshdeep Singh, and Jitesh Sharma, underwent the Bronco Test in the UAE.
Adrian Le Roux said the Bronco Test enables coaches to gain a clearer understanding of a player's aerobic fitness levels.

โThere are two main reasons we use it. First, it serves as a training mechanism. Second, it's a good measurement tool โ it helps us track where the players are in terms of aerobic fitness and whether weโre moving in the right direction,โ Le Roux said in the BCCI video.
โItโs a versatile test. You can do it anywhere, on any ground, even while travelling. That makes it practical. Players can also use it to assess themselves โ itโs very functional and portable,โ he added.
โFor me, two things matter the most: a passion for strength and conditioning, and a passion for helping players get better so they can showcase their skills. That passion for physical preparation, combined with my long-standing connection with the Indian team โ it goes back nearly two decades โ really motivates me," Le Roux stated.
Adrian Le Roux's first tenure with the Indian cricket team spanned from January 2002 to May 2003.
โMy first assignment after returning to the team was the tour of England โ five Test matches, a fantastic challenge. I was impressed by the work ethic and the fight shown by the players. It was an honour to be part of that campaign,โ Le Roux said.
โNow weโve switched formats, which brings a different challenge. Fortunately, Iโve worked in the IPL for many years and know most of the players. So even though itโs a new setup, many of the faces are familiar โ and that helps build continuity,โ he concluded.
After registering a dominating 9-wicket victory over the UAE in their Asia Cup 2025 opener, India will take on arch-rival Pakistan in their next group match on September 14.
