India and Pakistan are set to face each other in the high-voltage Group A clash of Asia Cup 2023 that takes place in Pallekele on Saturday, September 2.

The two teams will be locking horns for the first time since the memorable encounter in Melbourne during the T20 World Cup in Australia last year.

India and Pakistan could possibly meet five times in the next three months which makes the buzz around the high-profile match even more exciting.

The arch-rivals have not played bilateral cricket since the 2012-13 season. And that's why the entire cricketing community looks forward to India vs Pakistan clashes that only take place in the ICC tournaments and Asia Cup events.

Both the teams are likely to face each other again in the super four stage of the continental championship in Colombo on September 10 and a potential meeting in the final cannot be ruled out.

The Asia Cup is a promising stage for the Asian teams to prepare for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023 in India with the much-anticipated clash scheduled to take place in Ahmedabad on October 14.

The high-voltage match, however, in the ongoing tournament is expected to face rain interruptions in Pallekele.

There is a forecast for rain on September 2 in the Sri Lankan city. It is expected to be cloudy and humid with a couple of showers in the afternoon, according to the AccuWeather forecast portal.

The rain is predicted to take place in the evening as well with a 67 percent chance of precipitation. The match will get underway from 3 pm local time and 3 pm IST but the weather predictions for the afternoon and evening leave things a bit more concerning.

Notably, the rain stayed away despite the overcast conditions during the Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka match at the same venue on Thursday.

There was a brief moment when the players went off the field due to a drizzle. However, the match resumed immediately as it seemed a false alarm from the weather gods.

Meanwhile, the ground staff were on their toes throughout the match with the covers during the game in which Sri Lanka defeated Bangladesh.
