The much-awaited India vs Pakistan ODI World Cup 2023 match will now be played on October 14, a day ahead of its original date in Ahmedabad after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) agreed with the International Cricket Council (ICC) and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for changes in its two matches in the tournament.
As per PTI's report, Pakistan's clash against Sri Lanka has also been moved two days earlier and will now be played on October 10 instead of October 12 in Hyderabad.
Due to concerns with security deployment on the first day of the Navratri celebrations in Ahmedabad, India vs Pakistan game had to be rescheduled. In order to make changes in Pakistan's group stage schedule, including the one against India in Ahmedabad, the ICC and BCCI have made communication with the PCB.
There will not be any changes in India's matches apart from the game against Pakistan. The ICC will release the updated schedule in the coming days with changes in some matches involving other teams too.
As per the current schedule, India will open their home campaign against Australia in Chennai on October 8 while Pakistan are set to play their opening match against Netherlands on October 6 in Hyderabad.
Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif-appointed committee, led by Bilawal Bhutto, will meet on Thursday to make a decision regarding Pakistan's participation in the World Cup in India.
"A high-profile meeting will decide on the World Cup participation," Cricbuzz quoted a top PCB official as saying on Tuesday evening without divulging the details.
The committee, commanded by Pakistan's foreign minister, is anticipated to request permission from the ICC and BCCI for a security delegation to tour the locations where the Pakistan team will compete.
According to the Cricbuzz report, there is no apparent indication of the committee taking a tough stand towards the World Cup, but it could seek permission for a security check in India before giving the green light for the Babar Azam's men to participate in the October 5-November 19 championship.
