India vs South Africa 1st ODI: The first ODI between India and South Africa witnessed thrilling action at the JSCA International Cricket Stadium in Ranchi on Sunday. A series of viral moments took place during the series opener, including Virat Kohli’s animated celebration after reaching his century and Dewald Brevis' gravity-defying catch to dismiss Ruturaj Gaikwad.
Kohli smashed his 52nd ODI century, and on the back of his iconic 135-run knock, India ended up winning the match by 17 runs to go 1-0 up in the three-match series. There were a few off-field moments too that grabbed the eyeballs, including India head coach Gautam Gambhir's interaction with Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
Amid the speculations of a bit of tense atmosphere in India's ODI setup, a video of Rohit having an animated chat with Gambhir inside the dressing room has gone viral on social media. The former Indian skipper can be seen shaking his head while seemingly discussing the game in the dressing room. In another video, the duo was seen having a chat while the rest of the Indian players, including stand-in captain KL Rahul, were celebrating the victory at the team hotel by cutting a cake.

While it could've been a normal discussion between the two former India teammates regarding the first ODI match, the interaction is being closely scrutinised by the fans. Recently, reports claimed that the BCCI have called for an urgent meeting to sort out the differences between the senior players and the team management.
The much-awaited meeting could be attended by BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia, joint secretary Prabhtej Singh Bhatia, Gambhir, and chief selector Ajit Agarkar. While Virat and Rohit continue to impress in the ODIs following their respective T20I and Test retirements, there has been a lot of talk and a lack of clarity over the possibility of their participation in the ODI World Cup 2027.
Virat is the second top run-getter for India in ODI history with 14390 runs in 306 career matches, whereas Rohit is placed third in the elite list and has 11427 runs to his name.
