India Vs Sri Lanka Warmp-Up Match: Indian test team captain Shubman Gill is not playing the warm-up game against Sri Lanka due to an injury to his right ring finger during practice, informed the BCCI. While providing details, the authority stated that star batter sustained an impact injury during India's practice earlier on Thursday. It further stated that batter KL Rahul will lead the team in the absence of Gill. However, the board did not specify whether he will be part of the first test match against Sri Lanka, scheduled to begin from August 15.
Gill Misses Match Due To Injury
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the board stated that its medical team is monitoring his progress. "Update: Captain Shubman Gill sustained an impact injury to his right ring finger during India's practice on Thursday. As a precautionary measure, he will not take the field on Day 1 of the warm-up game against SLC XI. The BCCI Medical Team is monitoring his progress. KL Rahul will lead the team in Gill's absence," the BCCI informed.

The SLC XI has won the toss and opted to bat against India in the three-day game. The first test match between India and Sri Lanka will be held at the Galle International Cricket Stadium from August 15 to 19. Apart from this, the second match will be played at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo from August 23 to 27.

While there is uncertainty over captain Gill's presence, star pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been excluded from the series due to injuries.
