Asia Cup 2025 Updates: Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav was at his absolute best on Wednesday as he picked up a four-wicket haul by giving away just seven runs in match number 2 of the Asia Cup 2025 between India and UAE. Notably, his spell catapulted him past current teammate Axar Patel and veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin as he went past their T20I wickets tally.

Interestingly, Kuldeep crossed Axar Patel and Ashwin's tally of 72 wickets each. He has 73 scalps in 41 matches at an average of 13.39. The UAE was below par in their performance as the contest reached its conclusion in less than two hours at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Kuldeep dismantled the UAE's misfiring batting unit and returned with figures of 4/7 in his 2.1 over spell.

UAE recorded the score of 57 in 13.1 overs, which was the second lowest in the tournament's history after Hong Kong's 38 against Pakistan in 2022.

Kuldeep Yadav Second-Best Behind Bhuvneshwar

The figures of 4 wickets for 7 runs are the second-best bowling figures in the history of the Asia Cup Men’s T20I. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, the out-of-favour pacer, holds the record for the best figures of 5/4 against Afghanistan in 2022 at the same venue.

Kuldeep was adjudged player-of-the-match for his exploits.

“Tried to hit the right length and it matters a lot, reading the batters on what they are trying to do. Even today as well, reacting to what the batters would do on the next ball," Kuldeep said during the post-match presentation.
