India vs West Indies: Indian talisman Jasprit Bumrah made full use of bowling-friendly conditions on the first day of the Test match number one between India and West Indies at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Notably, it is the start of India's home season in the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27. Bumrah picked up three wickets in his spell, which helped India bowl out the West Indies on a paltry 162 in 44.1 overs.
It is worth noting that Bumrah enlisted himself along with legendary bowlers like Kapil Dev, Javagal Srinath, Mohammed Shami, and Ishant Sharma by becoming the joint-fastest Indian pacer to complete 50 wickets at home.
The fast bowling spearhead reached the milestone by cleaning up lower-order batter Johann Layne on 1. He reached the milestone in 1747 deliveries, which is the lowest by an Indian at home.

The 31-year-old pacer bowled searing Yorkers to get rid of Greaves and Layne to attract some roars from an otherwise inactive crowd in Ahmedabad. All-rounder Greaves, who top scored with 32 (48 balls, 4 fours) and put on 39 vital runs for the seventh wicket with Pierre, did well to push West Indies' total towards 150. But neither Greaves nor the other debutant Johann Layne (1) could keep out Bumrah's accurate yorkers with both losing their off-stumps.
