India win ICC Women's World Cup 2025 title: As India lifted the ICC Women's World Cup 2025 title with a famous victory over South Africa in the final in Navi Mumbai, legendary cricketer Virat Kohli congratulated the Harmanpreet-led side for an incredible achievement. This was India's maiden women's WC title win.

India defeated South Africa by 52 runs, bowling them out for 246 runs in 45.3 overs. Deepti Sharma picked up a match-winning five-wicket haul, adding to her half-century with the bat.

"The girls have created history, and I couldn’t be more proud as an Indian to see the hard work of so many years come to life finally. They deserve all the applause and a big congratulations to Harman and the whole team for achieving this historic feat. Also, congratulations to the whole squad and the management for the work behind the scenes. Well done, India. Enjoy the moment to the fullest. This will inspire generations of girls to take up the sport in our country. Jai Hind," Kohli wrote in his post on Instagram.

Sachin Tendulkar was also quick to react and hail the watershed moment in Indian cricket. "1983 inspired an entire generation to dream big and chase those dreams. Today, our Women’s Cricket Team has done something truly special. They have inspired countless young girls across the country to pick up a bat and ball, take the field and believe that they too can lift that trophy one day," Sachin wrote on X.

"This is a defining moment in the journey of Indian women’s cricket. Well done, Team India. You’ve made the whole nation proud," he added.

The match witnessed so many ups and downs, but the dismissal of Laura Wolvaardt almost ended South Africa's chance of lifting their maiden title. However, Nadine de Klerk kept the fight on before Deepti Sharma wrapped things up with her dismissal.

"Honestly, I don’t even know what to expect. To be here again, as a world champion, it’s unbelievable. It’s been such a recovery - from where I was a year ago to where I am now. This means a lot. You can see the crowd - they’re all around us, the energy is incredible. We’re just getting started. We’re going to take it to the next level and dominate across the world, in every moment. I just want to say congratulations to everyone - my family, everyone watching in India and around the world. They’ve supported me, sitting at home, cheering, believing. They’re the ones who helped me the most," Amanjot Kaur, who took the crucial catch of Wolvaardt, said after the win.

Earlier, India posted a huge total of 298/7 in their 50 overs on the back of Shafali Verma's 87-run knock in 78 balls, hitting seven fours and two sixes.
