IND-W vs SL-W ICC Women's ODI World Cup 2025: India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur has lauded Amanjot Kaur and Deepti Sharma for their brilliant performances both as a batter and bowler, which helped them defeat Sri Lanka during their tournament opener. While batting first, the hosts were seen struggling at 124/6, and that's when Deepti and Amanjot helped the team bounce back and post a respectable target of 269 runs in a rain-induced match.
Both of them had smashed half-centuries and had built a partnership of 103 runs. During the post-match presentation, Harmanpreet had admitted that the way Amanjot and Deepti handled pressure was brilliant.
"It wasn't an easy game. We know in ICC tournaments every game is high-pressure and important. We kept losing wickets, but still, the way Deepti and Amanjot handled the pressure was outstanding. We all came together and tried to win this game," Harmanpreet told broadcasters during the post-match presentation.
This pair also made a significant contribution with the ball, as Deepti took three wickets and Amanjot took one, helping the team skittle the visitors out for 211 runs. Harmanpreet called Amanjot an important part of the team and said that Deepti has performed like this for the team for a long time.
"Amanjot is a very key player for us who can contribute with both bat and ball. Deepti has been doing it for years. Both of them did really well, Harleen played well, and it was a good game for us," she added.
'Very happy with the bowlers'
Harmanpreet also lauded the other bowlers for their brilliant performances.
"Kranti is a wicket-taking option for us. Sneh Rana and Deepti are very crucial. We hoped they would keep getting wickets, and they did just that. Charani's spell was very good to see; she bowled with a good approach. Very happy with the way they bowled," she concluded.
India will lock horns with arch-rivals Pakistan during their next match in Colombo.
