IND-W vs AUS-W, ICC Women's World Cup 2025: Smriti Mandhana has been in incredible form with the bat in ODI cricket lately, and she produced another memorable effort during the India vs Australia match in the ICC Women's World Cup 2025 at the ACA-VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam on Sunday.

Mandhana played a magnificent knock of 80 runs in just 66 balls on the back of nine fours and three sixes to give India a fiery start after they were put into bat first. She had hit her fifty in just 46 balls. The fifty by Mandhana helped her break former India captain and legendary batter Mithali Raj’s record of most 50+ scores in women’s ODIs against the Australian team.

During her 23-year-long ODI career, Mithali played 37 matches against the Aussies and scored 1123 runs. She hammered nine half-centuries. On the other hand, the ongoing match in Vizag is Mandhana’s 20th ODI against the seven-time ODI World Cup winners, and she has scored four centuries and six fifties so far.

The overall record of scoring the most 50+ scores in the 50-over format of the game against Australia is in the name of New Zealand’s Debbie Hockley. Hockley played 51 ODIs against Australia during her 18-year-long career from 1982 to 2000 and crossed the 50-run mark 14 times. She scored one century and 13 half-centuries.

During her stay at the crease against Australia on Sunday, Mandhana entered her name in the history books by becoming the first player in the world to score 1000 runs in a calendar year in women’s ODIs. The left-handed batter also scripted history by becoming the fastest batter to complete 5000 runs in Women's ODI history.
