Women's World Cup 2025: Amanjot Kaur and Deepti Sharma's half-centuries and a crucial century partnership propelled India to a competitive 269/8 in 47 overs, despite rain shortening the ICC Women's World Cup match against Sri Lanka at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on Tuesday.
Amanjot slammed 57 off 56 balls while Deepti made 53 as the two batters survived the Sri Lankan bowlers, particularly spinner Inoka Ranaweera (4/46), to bail India out from a difficult situation at 124/6 in a match reduced to 47 overs per side.
Amanjot steadied India's innings after they were teetering at 124/6, having lost four wickets in a quick sequence. Alongside senior partner Deepti Sharma (53 off 53 ), Amanjot (57 off 56) reconstructed the innings with a 103-run stand off 99 balls.

Amanjot brought up her maiden World Cup half-century off just 45 balls, studded with five fours and a towering six. Sneh Rana also put on a fine cameo of 28 not out from 15 balls with two fours and two sixes to maintain up the total.
Put to bat first, India had a horrible start to their ongoing tournament campaign, as Sri Lanka caught them by shock, reducing them to 124/6 with a catastrophic spell from left-arm spinner Inoka Ranaweera.
The 39-year-old Inoka tore through the Indian middle order, snaring three wickets in five balls -- a well-set Harleen Deol (48), Jemimah Rodrigues (0) and skipper Harmanpreet Kaur (21) -- to leave India reeling.
Ranaweera struck early after a rain delay, removing Pratika Rawal, who was playing a cautious innings with too many dot balls.
