India vs Australia Predicted XI: Swashbuckling opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal has been India's blue-eyed boy with the kind of performances he has put up since his introduction to international Cricket. However, with the presence of Rohit Sharma and captain Shubman Gill at the top, Jaiswal has not been able to make his way into the ODI playing XI. Notably, he was not included in the playing XI for the first ODI and is unlikely to feature in Adelaide as well.
Notably, the second ODI match is scheduled to take place on October 23 (Thursday).
Reflecting on Jaiswal's inclusion in the playing XI, India's batting coach Sitanshu Kotak stated that the 23-year-old might have to wait for his chance. However, Kotak also said that the youngsters like him have been preparing well in case of an opportunity comes up.

Interestingly, Jaiswal made his debut in the ODI earlier this year, in 2025, against England.
“I think he’s in the squad, in the practice, and they (other youngsters) are pretty much aware that their turn will come, and they prepare well. At the end of the day, only 11 can play, so you have to wait for your turn and then perform," Kotak said.

The conditions at Perth were difficult to cope for the batters as both openers Gill and Rohit failed to make an impact. Notably, India were able to manage just 136 for 9 in 26 overs in a rain-truncated encounter.
As a result, Australia manage to claim an easy seven-wicket win to go 1-0 in the series.
