IND-W vs AUS-W: The Australian women's cricket team has been fined 10 per cent of their match fee for maintaining a slow over-rate during the second ODI against India Women in New Chandigarh (Mullanpur).

In the second ODI, Australia suffered a 102-run defeat, their heaviest in terms of runs on Wednesday.

GS Lakshmi of the ICC International Panel of Match Referees imposed the sanction as Australia were ruled to be two overs short of the target after time allowances were taken into consideration.

"In accordance with Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to minimum over-rate offences, players are fined five per cent of their match fee for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time," the ICC said in a statement.

Australian captain Alyssa Healy accepted the penalty, pleading guilty to the offence, therefore avoiding a formal hearing.

"Australia captain Alyssa Healy pled guilty to the offence and accepted the proposed sanction, so there was no need for a formal hearing," it added.

The charge was levelled by on-field umpires Vrinda Rathi and Janani Narayanan, third umpire Lauren Agenbag and fourth umpire Gayathri Venugopalan.

Riding high on a record-breaking performance, India will eye a historic first-ever women's ODI series triumph over the powerful Australia when the two sides clash in the decider of the three-match fixture here on Saturday.

A win against the world champions in this series would mark a notable milestone, breaking a trend of past failures. After a tough loss in the series opener, the Indian women's cricket team, led by Harmanpreet Kaur made a spectacular comeback in the second ODI. This triumph also marked India's first triumph over Australia in 12 matches.

In the match, Smriti Mandhana's brilliant century (117 runs off 91 balls) helped India post an imposing total of 292 runs. Later Indian bowlers wrapped up Australia for 190 runs in 40.5 overs.
