IND-W vs NZ-W Women's World Cup 2025: Amol Muzumdar, who is the head coach of the Women in Blue, has revealed that the team knows that their top-order batters should smash a century to keep their hopes alive for their next match and that their strike rate isn't a huge concern for them. He came out in support of the struggling Indian batters in the ongoing mega event and said that a big innings from them is just around the corner.
The host needs to win their next match against New Zealand to qualify for the semifinals, and for that, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side will need these batters to step up in Navi Mumbai.
Since the Indian batters still haven't scored a World Cup hundred till now, the strike rates of Pratika Rawal and Harleen Deol have been slammed.
“We are well aware that a three-figure mark has not come in this World Cup. But if you look at the past year-and-a-half, the 18 months that have passed before the World Cup, we have definitely had a lot of hundreds that we have seen than ever before, I guess," Muzumdar told reporters in the pre-match press conference.
“Yes, the three-figure mark hasn’t been reached," he said. He also dismissed the claims that the Indian batters were under pressure owing to a lack of individual big scores.
“I don’t think there is a lot of load on anyone. We have had honest discussions about it, and the players have also been honest that instead of a fifty, we could have converted that into a hundred," he added.
“They are aware of it, and I am hopeful that it will come in the next couple of games," he said.
Muzumdar also wasn't worried about Rawal's and Harleen's strike rate of 80 and emphasized that there was just one half-century amongst them after playing in ten matches.
“If you look at Pratika Rawal’s progression from last December when she made her debut in international cricket, she averages around 50 (47.04) and her strike rate is around 82-83," he concluded.
