IPL 2024: Hardik Pandya, the new Mumbai Indians captain has had a tournament to forget so far in the IPL 2024 with his side suffering defeats in the first three matches.

With Pandya dealing with challenges in the initial days of his second stint at MI, the team stands at the bottom of the points table and will have to work hard to open their account in the tournament.

Ahead of their fourth match of the season against Delhi Capitals, Pandya visited the Somnath Temple in Prabhas Patan, Gujarat and offered prayers amid heavy criticism of his leadership.

Pandya replaced Rohit Sharma as MI's new captain ahead of the IPL 2024, a decision that received a massive backlash from the fans who came up with heavy voices to lash out at both the franchise and the new skipper.

Pandya's few decisions in throughout the first three matches so far also created a stage for debate over the future of the side in the tournament.

The five-time champions are having a short break ahead of their next match against DC which will be played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on April 7.

While Rohit was removed from the captaincy despite leading the side to five IPL titles, fans were not ready to accept Hardik as the new captain with the all-rounder getting massive boos in every match so far amid alleged rift rumours between the two Indian stars.

MI kicked off their campaign on a disappointing note as they suffered a defeat against Pandya's former side Gujarat Titans.

They were thrashed by Sunrisers Hyderabad in their next match who registered a new record of highest-ever total in the IPL history, scoring 277/3 in their 20 overs.

Despite all the negative happenings in and around Pandya's IPL 2024 journey, former Australian captain Michael Clarke claimed that the MI skipper is in good space.

"It doesn't help when your team is not performing. I spoke to Hardik Pandya when I got over here and he seems like he is going fine. He's a really confident sort of person. He won't allow this to get to him but he does need to get this team winning games of cricket. Mumbai is such a good team and there are always high expectations. The fans want them at the top of the tree, but at the moment they are at the bottom," Clarke had said.
