IPL 2024: Suryakumar Yadav, Mumbai Indians' star batter has started training as he joined the side for the first time in IPL 2024 after recovering from the injury.

Suryakumar looked in great touch in his first net session with the team ahead of their next match as he unleashed his trademark shots without any visible discomfort.

While there is still no official confirmation on his inclusion straight into the side for the next match, Suryakumar looked in full flow, raising hopes to be in action against Delhi Capitals.

The five-time champions Mumbai Indians will be up against the Rishabh Pant-led side at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday, April 7.

Suryakumar, who joined his teammates for an afternoon practice session, spent close to an hour batting in the nets.

After the session, he performed some mobility drills before spending quality time with his teammates and then had conversations with the head coach Mark Boucher and batting coach Kieron Pollard.

The 33-year-old, who underwent surgery for his sports hernia in Munich, Germany, was recently declared fit to play by the National Cricket Academy (NCA).

The No.1 T20I batter is known for his 360-degree style of stroke play and has been the most consistent batter for MI from the past few seasons.

His presence was massively missed in the side that suffered the defeats in their first three matches and is placed at the bottom of the points table under the new captaincy of Hardik Pandya.

Suryakumar last played competitive cricket in December 2023 during the T20I leg of Indiaโ€™s tour of South Africa after which he picked up an ankle injury.

He scored 100 off 56 balls in the third T20I at Johannesburg, his fourth century in the shortest format as India clinched the series under his captaincy.

In their previous match of the tournament MI suffered a defeat against Rajasthan Royals by six wickets at home.

After getting a major boost with the inclusion of Suryakumar, MI will be aiming to get off the mark in the tournament and pick up the momentum as soon as possible.
