IPL 2025: The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 between Kolkata Knight Riders and Lucknow Super Giants at Eden Gardens, Kolkata has been rescheduled from Sunday, April 6th to Tuesday, April 8th at 3.30 PM IST.
The Indian Premier League is set for a thrilling double-header on April 8, Tuesday. The first match will feature KKR taking on LSG at 3:30 PM IST, followed by PBKS clashing with CSK in the evening fixture, which will commence at its originally scheduled time of 7:30 PM.
While the match will be played a couple of days later as against the original schedule, it will be held in Kolkata itself and not in Guwahati as earlier speculated.
The BCCI made the announcement following a request from the Kolkata Police to the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB). The police deemed it necessary to augment their presence citywide for ongoing celebrations, thereby necessitating the adjustment in the schedule.
An official statement by BCCI read, "The decision follows a request from Kolkata Police to the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) regarding the deployment of personnel across the city owing to festivities. The authorities have recommended that the game be moved to Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at 3:30 PM, and the request has been accommodated accordingly. The rest of the schedule remains unchanged."
"For clarity, Sunday, April 6, will now be a single-header match day, with Sunrisers Hyderabad hosting Gujarat Titans at 7:30 PM (Match No. 20) as originally scheduled. Tuesday, April 8, will be a double-header match day, featuring the KKR vs. LSG fixture in the afternoon in Kolkata, followed by Punjab Kings hosting Chennai Super Kings (Match No. 22) in New Chandigarh in the evening, as per the original schedule," the statement further read.
The board said the rest of the schedule remains unchanged, which will now have only one match on April 6 (Sunday) -- the fixture between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans in Hyderabad.
